The Bacon and Cheese Keto Burger

Sometimes it can be hard to find a recipe that you can make for almost any meal. This is what makes the Keto burger one of our favourites. It makes the menu multiple times a week and is guaranteed to satisfy.

Now, if you’re anything like us, you LOVE a good burger this one is perfect for those in Ketosis or those striving to lower their carbs.

We cut out the bread and other hideaway spots for carbs and sugars, but make sure we maintain the flavour and taste. Bread is one of those silent killers on the Keto Diet that has a reputation for knocking people out of Ketosis when they let their guard down and give in to their cravings

The mind blowing part of this recipe is that we flip things around and actually use the burger patty AS THE BUN! So, we like our burger patties to be medium rare, which is something to be aware of when making these Keto burgers. If you like yours moire on the rare side – cook for less time, and if you prefer them more on the well done side – cook for a little longer. The important thing is that you enjoy the process and create something that you’ll come back to again and again!

You can also get creative and add onion (raw or cooked), peppers/capsicum or even chilli if you’ve got a bit more of a lust for hard spice! Chilli has been known to speed up the metabolism by up to 20 times!

The Keto burger itself can come in a slew of variations and takes next to no time to make.

Step 1

Set a hot plate to medium-high heat, then in a skillet or frying pan, cook your bacon until crisp (we prefer it this way but you can cook to your own preference). Once cooked, remove from the pan and set on a piece of paper towel in order to drain the grease.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, add ground beef/mince, 2 thirds of your bacon, and add your spices.

Step 3

After mixing the meat with the spices, press them by hand into 10 keto burger patties.

Step 4

Add some Bacon Fat into the skillet/frying pan and place patties inside once the fat is hot enough.

Step 5

Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side (less for more rare, longer for more well done) and aim for 3-4 patties at a time, depending on the size of your pan.

Step 6

Remove each keto burger patty from pan, and let them rest for about 5 minutes, and serve them with cheese, extra bacon, and raw onion if you'd like a bit of extra flavor!
