Keto Tea

A keto or ketogenic diet is about training your body to use fats as fuel to power up your body in place of carbohydrates. This diet like any other should be made into a lifestyle to see positive results like heightened brain function, improved mood, reduced blood pressure, inhibition of cancer growth, and extended life and well-being.

The key to sticking to this diet is finding keto-friendly alternatives. The truth is that even while following the keto diet we don’t want to part with the hot beverages we love so much, like tea and coffee. We have keto versions of coffee known as the bulletproof coffee but what about the tea lovers?

The keto tea or keto chai recipe below will not only give you your daily tea fix but is also incredible for the healthy healing of your body, which is one of the main reasons for most of us turning to a keto diet.

You’d be surprised to know that most tea bags and loose teas have some amount of sweeteners in them, these sweeteners may or may not be keto-friendly, and consuming them may result in kicking you out of ketosis, the stage where your body is using up your body fats as fuel.

Even ready-made organic teas can have some organic natural sugars like coconut sugars in them. So it’s best to make your own version of keto tea at home using just plain black tea.

This keto tea recipe is dairy-free and is an absolute essential that makes sure you don’t miss having tea as part of your breakfast (or any other meal!).

Step 1

Put all the spices along with the ginger in a pot and toast them on low flame/low heat.

Step 2

Add the water to the pot and let it come to a boil. Then cover the pot with a lid and on an even lower flame let the concoction simmer for 10 to 15 minutes depending on how strong you want the flavor to be.

Step 3

Turn off the heat completely, put the teabags in the pot and let them sit in there for about 4 minutes.

Step 4

After removing the teabags, add the dairy-free milk of your choice to the pot along with at least 2 tablespoons of sweeteners. You can add more sweetener later if you like.

Step 5

Put it back on the medium flame and let it start to simmer a bit. Remove it from the heat and strain it through a strainer into a teapot.

Step 6

Optional: Add the tablespoon of coconut oil to the cup and pour the keto tea on top of it, mix it well. Keto tea is all yours to enjoy. You can store excess tea in the refrigerator in an airtight container, for about a week.
